Many instructors will put copies of readings for class on reserve in the SMFA Library.
To find out if there is material on reserve for your class, check the Course Reserve tab in the FLO catalog and select your course or instructor from the appropriate dropdown menu. The menus are alphabetical, and all departments, faculty, and course listings for SMFA begin with "SMFA.” Library staff can also provide printed copies of reserve lists, including call numbers – feel free to ask at the circulation desk.
Closed Reserve materials are marked with yellow tape on the spine and are shelved behind the circulation desk. These items may be checked out for two hours at a time. Be sure to return or renew a Closed Reserve item when two hours are up, as reserves are subject to overdue fines. If the FLO catalog says an item is "Temporarily shelved at School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Circulation Desk," it is on Closed Reserve. Course readers and instructors’ personal copies are also Closed Reserves.
Open Reserve materials are marked with orange tape on the spine and are shelved throughout the stacks, each item shelved in its usual call number location. Open Reserve items circulate for either one or three days, depending on the instructor’s preference. If the FLO catalog says an item is "Temporarily shelved at School of the Museum of Fine Arts ," it is on Open Reserve.
Please see the Course Reserves Services page to find out how to place course materials on reserve at the SMFA Library.
